Identifying the Type of Removalist Service to Choose

Image
Every removal is different as people have different requirements. In some cases, people only hire a removal company for the packing services while some people can take the complete removal package. Therefore before you book a removalist in Brisbane, it is imperative to understand your need. You need to identify what type of removalist service to choose. If you are moving from one street to another, you may only require packing services. If the move is local, you can take the whole package. But, if you have to move interstate, you’ll have to choose removalist that offers interstate removal services. Israel Folau plans to return to rugby league with Tongan national team

Image
Israel Folau plans to return to international rugby league, playing for Tonga. The Tongan National Rugby League issued a media release on Monday night stating Folau and his brother John would be selected to feature against the Kangaroos and Great Britain later this year. But Folau's return to international ruby league would have to be approved by the RLIF, made up of eight national sporting bodies. The ABC understands that the Australian Rugby League Commission (ALRC) would oppose Folau's request. Former ARLC commissioner Peter Beattie told ABC the Folau decision was still a live one. "The RLIF has made no decision in relation to any registration request for Israel Folau," he said. "As a current member and deputy chair of the RLIF board, I can assure you that this has never been discussed or mentioned around the board table." The RLIF further poured cold water on the matter when it released a statement on Monday evening. The Rugby League Inte...

Chroming killed Rosie's cousin. Now she's speaking out about her addiction in the hope of deterring others

Image
At 12 years of age, Rosie* started inhaling volatile substances with her friends in public locations around Brisbane. The practice is known as chroming, and by the age of 15 she was addicted to it — that is, until she lost her first family member because of it. "We were sitting at the park and we all decided to drink that night … but instead, we went to the shops and we stole a few cans each and we went back to the park," Rosie recalled on ABC Radio Brisbane's Afternoons program. "I sat down with everybody and probably 20 minutes into it, my little cousin started choking and I said, 'Just stop chroming because you never know', and he said, 'Nah, nah it's all good'. "Probably 10 minutes after that he kind of just dropped on the floor, out of nowhere. "His eyes were rolling into the back of his head and I called the ambulance. They were on their way and he just like sat up and spewed up everywhere white … [he vomited] all the ch...

Cricket Prediction Tips For Today’s ODI Match 4 QUN vs SAU at Allan Border Field, Brisbane

Image
Dream11 Team QUN vs SAU – Cricket Predictions Tips For Today’s Match 4 Between Queensland vs South Australia, Marsh One-Day Cup 2019 at Allan Border Field, Brisbane: After setting the stage on fire during their campaign opener against New South Wales Blues, Queensland will host South Australia in the second match of the ongoing Marsh One-Day Cup. Queenslanders gunned down a record chase in their first match versus NSW while riding on half-centuries by Sam Heazlett, Joe Burns and Marnus Labuschagne. The NSW posted 305/5 in their 50 overs but the hosts batsmen put on a terrific show to come out on top. They raced to 92/1 by end of 10th over but the NSW bowlers pulled things back to slow down the proceedings. The home side lost their way due to the wickets in the middle-overs as they were reduced to 199/5 from 142/1. Later, Jack Wildermuth also scored a fifty to help the hosts chase the target with two overs to spare. Read more:  https://www.india.com/sports/dream11-team-queensland...

Hundreds of Australian academics declare support for climate rebellion

Image
More than 250 academics at Australian universities say the federal government’s inaction on the climate crisis requires civil disobedience in response and they feel a “moral duty” to rebel and “defend life itself”. In an open letter, professors, researchers and lecturers from more than a dozen institutions have declared support for the Extinction Rebellion movement and its global week of non-violent civil disobedience in October. The letter has been published the same day that tens of thousands are expected to take part in school climate strikes at more than 100 locations across Australia. Cyclist And Driver Caught In Epic Road Rage In Brisbane

Image
It's no secret that motorists and cyclists have had a complicated history over the years. While people in both camps aren't bad, there are a few outliers that give a bad name for their style of transport. Sometimes there are a few curt words yelled from a seat or car because someone cut the other off or one went straight through a red light without a care for the road rules, but rarely does it escalate to a fist fight. But that's exactly what was captured by a person in Brisbane, Australia, where two road users went to town on each other. Such is especially clear during the annual BIGSOUND Festival and Conference which brings approximately 15,000 music lovers to Fortitude Valley each September. Brisbane ready to face GWS star Greene

Image
Brisbane midfielder Jarrod Berry says the Lions are ready to give GWS star Toby Greene an early finish to adjust his travel schedule after his recent financial setback. The Giants midfielder avoided suspension after pleading guilty to a serious misconduct charge at the AFL tribunal on Monday, freeing him to face the Lions in Saturday’s semi-final at the Gabba. Instead of a ban, Greene was given a $7500 fine for his role in an ugly incident involving Western Bulldogs player Marcus Bontempelli during the first quarter of last Saturday’s elimination final. Brisbane midfielder Jarrod Berry said the news Greene would be making the trip north didn’t change their plans hugely. “He got his fine. That’ll hurt his off-season travels,” Berry said. “It is what it is, we’re prepared to play him or anyone that’s going to be in that team, we’re ready.” Lions coach Chris Fagan refused to be drawn on whether Greene was lucky to avoid a ban, and pointed out his team had already beaten the G...

Airbus claims $2B in savings if Australia sticks with Tiger helo amid replacement bids

Image
MELBOURNE, Australia — Australian taxpayers will save AU$3 billion (U.S. $2 billion) out to 2040 by incrementally upgrading the Australian Army’s 22 Tiger helicopters, rather than replacing the fleet, according to an Airbus official. Australia is seeking to replace its Airbus-made Tiger armed reconnaissance helicopters with up to 29 proven, mature, off-the-shelf armed helos under Project Land 4503 following a request for information on July 10. The country’s requirement is for up to 24 helicopters to equip two operational squadrons, with five further airframes for training. The RFI specifies an initial operational capability (IOC) in the 2026 time frame and a final operational capability (FOC) to follow around 2028. Airbus Australia Pacific Managing Director Andrew Mathewson said Aug. 30 that the company’s offering will leverage technology from the European Tiger Mark III program. He added that upgrading the Tiger from the mid-2020s will save compared to acquiring a new type, whic...

Highway, rail among four Queensland projects to get green light

Image
The next stage of the Gold Coast's light rail line is a step closer after being given a nod from Australia's independent infrastructure adviser. Infrastructure Australia has approved the business cases for four Queensland projects with a combined value of $6 billion - Gold Coast light rail stage 3A and three Bruce Highway upgrades - adding them to the national Infrastructure Priority List. Infrastructure Australia chief executive Romilly Madew said the expanded light rail line on the southern part of the Gold Coast - from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads - would help tackle congestion. "Gold Coast light rail stage 3A addresses the dual challenges of population growth and high levels of car dependency on the Gold Coast, one of Australia's major tourism destinations, which hosts around 12 million visitors each year," she said. The real struggle for Babyteeth's Shannon Murphy? Talking about her gender

Image
Australian director Shannon Murphy made short work of an inevitable question at the Venice Film Festival this week: is it a struggle to survive as a female filmmaker? For Murphy, who is competing at the festival with her debut feature Babyteeth, the film's press conference was not the right forum for such a discussion. "I think it's a struggle to always be having to answer questions about being a female filmmaker, to be honest," she said. "Mainly because I feel it takes away from the artistry of what we're trying to do. I think the conversation is really important but in the right context, where it's a panel particularly about that. Otherwise it overshadows this film." Read more:  https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/entertainment/movies/the-real-struggle-for-babyteeth-s-shannon-murphy-talking-about-her-gender-20190906-p52otd.html

Pocock past 'frustrating' injury as Wallabies aim to build momentum

Image
Returning Wallaby David Pocock is confident a “frustrating” calf injury is completely behind him and says Australia will be looking to build momentum into the World Cup with a polished performance against a Samoan side he stresses must be respected. After six months of laborious rehabilitation, Pocock will wear the No.7 jersey for the Wallabies and captain the side for the eighth time in his career when they face the 16th-ranked Samoans at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday evening. “It’s been frustrating,” Pocock said on Friday. “When you’re injured you want to be out there, you want to be doing everything you can to get back. I guess when you do get back you reflect on how much support you have had along the way from physios, medical staff, family and all the rest. It’s been great to be back training with the team.” Read more:  https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/sport/rugby-union/pocock-past-frustrating-injury-as-wallabies-aim-to-build-momentum-20190906-p52os3.html?ref=rss&ut...

Scary IT Chapter Two Billboard Freaks Out Kids & Concerned Parents in Australia

Image
IT Chapter Two is causing an uproar in Brisbane, Australia. Concerned parents have been filing complaints over large billboards depicting Pennywise the Dancing Clown’s face because they are giving their children nightmares. Bill Skarsgard’s take on Pennywise has been frightening people ever since Andres Muschietti unleashed his first installment of Stephen King’s iconic source material back in 2017. Both kids and adults have found themselves having nightmares about the supernatural clown, and it’s only going to get worse with the highly anticipated sequel hitting theaters this week. Parents in Brisbane, Australia have contacted Ad Standards to get a few IT Chapter Two billboards taken down. In Australia, the movie is rated MA15+, which prohibits anyone under the age of 15 from seeing it. However, that doesn’t mean children under said age can’t see the posters on the highway depicting Pennywise with blood dripping from his mouth. One mother told local news, “Some people do enjoy goin...

Researchers unearth 'phenomenal' history of Gympie's century-old strawberry variety

Image
As strawberries go it looks small and insignificant, but there is a phenomenal story behind one 113-year-old Australian variety; it involves a shipwreck, floods and garden tourism during a goldrush. More than a century after the Phenomenal strawberry variety was developed, Queensland Government horticulturists have gifted a handful of the extremely rare plants to agricultural students in the district where they were first created. Agriculture teacher at Gympie State High School, Bob Leitch, said the strawberry plant donation would assist students in learning about Gympie's local agricultural history. "These are one of the oldest existing varieties of strawberries," Mr Leitch said. "They're very small with very intense flavour, and they've been donated to us as part of our program to educate the students more about the history of strawberries here in Australia." Extinction Rebellion: hitting a nerve at Australia's climate flashpoint

Image
The Extinction Rebellion protesters think you should be angry. They want politicians and opinion columnists to be angry. The more people they upset stopping traffic in the Brisbane city centre – the louder the car horns, the more vicious the insults – the more certain it is they’ll be back. “It’s not an enjoyable experience, we don’t take pleasure in doing it,” says Emma Dorge, an activist arrested in Brisbane on Tuesday, during a day of mass civil disobedience that shut down Australia’s third-largest city. “It is a polarising tactic. But this is an emergency, and we’re out of other options.” Extinction Rebellion, the decentralised global movement calling for aggressive action on the climate crisis, has engaged in similar disruption tactics in major cities on every continent. Those protests have been most effective when they are most polarising, like in Queensland, where talking and writing and screaming and marching about the climate emergency has not shifted public sentiment; ...

Soaring temperatures in South East Queensland a 'taste of what's to come' this spring

Image
South East Queensland is expected to get a taste of summer this week due to hotter-than-average temperatures, with some parts of the region set to hit 36 degrees Celsius. The fire threat has also increased with residents near Cunungra, north west of the Gold Coast, on alert after a bushfire broke out near Sarabah Road this morning. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said Brisbane reached 33.7C on Wednesday, and was expected to hit 31C on Thursday and 34C on Friday. The maximum temperature in Ipswich, west of Brisbane, is set to be 36C on Friday — 11C above average. BOM forecaster Michael Knepp said the temperatures were unusual for early September, with Brisbane city's average temperature for this time about 25C. "It's rare to see a run of these days with temperatures 8 degrees above average," he said. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-04/spring-hotter-than-average-weather-south-east-qld/11475590

8 must see shows at Brisbane Festival 2019

Image
Creating a festival is a balancing act. It’s about hitting that sweet spot in garnering enough international performances to attract crowds while still supporting a local scene; in finding a mainstream audience while fostering experimental fringe works. With its 2019 program – the fifth and final year for Artistic Director David Berthold – Brisbane Festival aims for just that balance. ‘The festival is flush with local work this year, on top of the big international work from five continents,' Berthold told ArtsHub. 'World premieres from La Boite, Dancenorth and Queensland Theatre, along with QSO, Camerata, Casus, Flipside, Counterpilot, and lots of work from Brisbane independent artists. All up, we’ll engage close to a thousand Queensland artists and arts workers.’ The festival began in 1996, becoming an annual event in 2009. It's relatively young in comparison with Sydney Festival, which harkens back to 1977, and maintains a vitality that reflects the character not o...

NPL Australia: Adelaide Olympic drop out of play-offs as Brisbane and Floreat scrape through

Image
The National Premier Leagues around Australia has officially entered its last few weeks, and the playoff season has all but settled in. In South Australia, that season is unfortunately already over for Adelaide Olympic which failed to qualify for their regional final after a home loss against the NE Metrostars. It was a tough contest that was decided in the final minutes of the game thanks to a brace by the visitor’s forward Esposito. Their hopes of reaching the final might have been crushed, yet George Tsonis’ men can take solace in performing admirably throughout the season, finishing in third place, reaching the semi-finals while also qualifying for the FFA Cup round of 16. On the other hand, it seems a downward spiral has begun for both Floreat Athina and Brisbane Olympic at the worst possible time. Ben Cahn’s men lost yet another game, the last of the regular season, this time against the Gold Coast Knights. Read more:  https://neoskosmos.com/en/145220/npl-australia-a...
