Building industry watchdog inundated with claims after Oracle Platinum Homes collapse

 Hundreds of claims for deposits and unfinished works have been filed after the collapse of Oracle Platinum Homes, as home owners start searching for new builders and others race to finish incomplete builds.

In late August, Oracle Building Corporation, which trades under the name Oracle Platinum Homes and Oracle Hunter Homes, went into liquidation with all 70 staff terminated.

The company collapsed leaving about 300 home owners affected, with construction of their houses ranging from not yet commenced to those nearly completed.

Buranda traffic backup frustrates commuters, cyclists as Brisbane Metro work starts

 Commuters, cyclists and pedestrians have found rare common ground as they battle delays and difficult transport routes caused by the temporary closure of a key southside thoroughfare in Brisbane. Work on upgrading and extending the Buranda busway station to allow for the new Brisbane Metro has begun but meant Brisbane City Council has closed the eastbound lanes on busy O'Keefe Street between Carl Street and Gillingham Street. A detour is in place via Carl Street, Cornwall Street, Logan Road and Montague Street and the westbound lanes on O'Keefe Street between Gillingham Street and Carl Street were also reduced to a single lane.
