Reduced bus timetable for south-east Queensland commuters as driver shortage bites

 Bus customers will need to plan ahead next week as Translink looks to cut bus services due to a lack of drivers. Rising case numbers of COVID and Influenza are contributing to higher than usual driver absences, adding to the continuing challenge of attracting and retaining drivers. Head of Translink Sally Stannard has said both Ipswich and Redlands services will be affected. "From Monday there will be five routes that will be reduced in Ipswich and in Redlands there will be four early morning services that won't run," she said. Xander has a range of complex diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), facial blindness, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and sensory processing disorder (SPD). Toowong-West End green bridge fears allayed by Brisbane council, developer

 Brisbane City Council has reaffirmed its commitment to building a bridge between Toowong and West End despite approving a development on land earmarked for the site. Greens Queensland MP Michael Berkman raised concerns the deferred green bridge project may be scrapped after Consolidated Properties Group's $375-million Monarch Residences concept, to be built at the old ABC Brisbane site at 600 Coronation Drive, Toowong, received the go-ahead from the council. The development would consist of three 15-storey towers built among three acres of riverfront gardens with about 130 metres of direct river frontage.
