Queensland's mask-wearing push to limit COVID-19 spread comes as AMA says GPs face 'dangerous shortage'

 As the threat from COVID-19 continues to grow, particularly from the highly contagious Delta variant, the discussion around mask wearing is heating up around the world.

Yesterday, the Queensland Government announced residents in 11 local government areas across the south-east would be required to wear masks for another week.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the mask mandate had "protected us from getting further spread" of the virus despite repeated incursions in recent weeks.
