 Indian stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane produced a regal performance with the bat on the second day of the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. He scored his 12th Test century to put India in the driver’s seat by the stumps as India have taken an 82-run lead over the hosts.

 Commuters, cyclists and pedestrians have found rare common ground as they battle delays and difficult transport routes caused by the temporary closure of a key southside thoroughfare in Brisbane. Work on upgrading and extending the Buranda busway station to allow for the new Brisbane Metro has begun but meant Brisbane City Council has closed the eastbound lanes on busy O'Keefe Street between Carl Street and Gillingham Street. A detour is in place via Carl Street, Cornwall Street, Logan Road and Montague Street and the westbound lanes on O'Keefe Street between Gillingham Street and Carl Street were also reduced to a single lane.
