China Should Be "Utterly Ashamed": Australian PM Seeks Apology Over Photo

 Australia demanded an apology after a senior Chinese official posted a fake image of an Australian soldier holding a knife with blood on it to the throat of an Afghan child, calling it "truly repugnant" and demanding it be taken down.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison called a media briefing to condemn the posting of the image, marking another downturn in deteriorating relations between the two countries.

Buranda traffic backup frustrates commuters, cyclists as Brisbane Metro work starts

 Commuters, cyclists and pedestrians have found rare common ground as they battle delays and difficult transport routes caused by the temporary closure of a key southside thoroughfare in Brisbane. Work on upgrading and extending the Buranda busway station to allow for the new Brisbane Metro has begun but meant Brisbane City Council has closed the eastbound lanes on busy O'Keefe Street between Carl Street and Gillingham Street. A detour is in place via Carl Street, Cornwall Street, Logan Road and Montague Street and the westbound lanes on O'Keefe Street between Gillingham Street and Carl Street were also reduced to a single lane.
