Australians stranded in Argentina and India by the coronavirus outbreak plea for Government help to get home

Australians stuck in Argentina are pleading for a Government lifeline amid the extraordinary mass stranding of travellers around the world because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A Facebook group of Australian citizens says there are 12 children and a pregnant woman among about 100 Australians unable to leave Argentina after President Alberto Fernandez declared an "absolutely inflexible" nationwide lockdown.

Anyone found breaching the stay-at-home orders faces arrest.

Dual citizen Brenda, who did not wish to use her last name, and her eight-month-old son Oliver travelled to Argentina to visit family before the pandemic was declared and found themselves stranded in the central city of Cordoba as the global shutdown rapidly escalated.
Travis wears a baby harness holding Oliver, while Brenda stands next to them.
