Residents in Narangba, north of Brisbane, asked to ‘prepare to leave’ as fire burns through bush

Firefighters are working to contain a bushfire north of Brisbane but have warned they may not be able to protect every property in the semi-rural area and conditions could get worse.

The fire at Narangba, in the Moreton Bay region, is considered at “Watch and Act” level, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said on Thursday night.

“You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan,” the QFES said.

“If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.”

Residents should close their windows and doors as the smoke affects visibility and air quality.

Anyone who believes their property is under threat is urged to contact triple-0 immediately.
