Hundreds gather to raise money for Brisbane charity Youngcare

Dressed in their Friday best, hundreds of Brisbane ladies converged on one of the city’s newest venues for the third annual “Y Women” lunch.
The event — at The Lushington, a 1920s space revamped into a glammed-up warehouse — raised big bucks for Youngcare, a Brisbane-founded national body which helps young Australians with high-care needs.
With Channel 9’s Sylvia Jeffreys a late scratching, Sofie Formica, formerly of Channel 7, happily stepped in to officiate.

Buranda traffic backup frustrates commuters, cyclists as Brisbane Metro work starts

 Commuters, cyclists and pedestrians have found rare common ground as they battle delays and difficult transport routes caused by the temporary closure of a key southside thoroughfare in Brisbane. Work on upgrading and extending the Buranda busway station to allow for the new Brisbane Metro has begun but meant Brisbane City Council has closed the eastbound lanes on busy O'Keefe Street between Carl Street and Gillingham Street. A detour is in place via Carl Street, Cornwall Street, Logan Road and Montague Street and the westbound lanes on O'Keefe Street between Gillingham Street and Carl Street were also reduced to a single lane.
