COVID-19 cases expected to surge as Queensland students return to face-to-face learning

 An infectious diseases expert has warned Queensland schools will see a rapid rise in children testing positive to COVID-19 now that students across the state have returned to classrooms. The warning comes after students at St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School in Brisbane's west were notified of a positive COVID case in the senior schooling cohort on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours, 534 children between the age of five and 17 have tested positive for the virus, up from 313 yesterday.  Of the children who had tested positive in the past day, 295 were aged between five and 11 and 239 were aged between 12 and 17. Queensland Premier apologises to public servants who 'weren't listened to' when raising integrity issues in her government

 Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has apologised to public servants who felt they were not listened to in the past when raising concerns about integrity processes within the Queensland government. It comes as a mounting number of former and outgoing public servants have detailed integrity concerns within the Queensland government, including cultural issues, political inference and the altering of annual reports. Queensland records largest number of COVID-19 deaths, with 24 people dying in the latest reporting period

 Queensland has recorded its highest number of daily COVID-19 deaths, with 24 people passing away in the latest reporting period. Of the deaths, 16 were recorded in aged care facilities with 6,902 new COVID-19 cases across the state. Health Minister Yvette D'Ath said the age of the people who died were between 50 and 100, with many of those having underlying health conditions. "But because at their death, they have also tested positive, we do report all of these deaths," Ms D'Ath said.
