 2813 Ipswich Road in Darra is not officially an address anymore — just a patch of grass beside the busy Ipswich Motorway in Brisbane's south-west. But delve into the State Library of Queensland's (SLQ) Corley Explorer website and you'll discover that in the 1960s it was the site of a cherished family home, built after work and on weekends by English immigrant George Brown for his wife Margaret and their daughters. Mr Brown made the bricks, built the walls, the floors and did all the carpentry, electrical and plumbing work. Queensland records 1,158 new COVID-19 cases as Health Minister says day five testing to be scrapped

 Queensland has axed the requirement for travellers to get a PCR test on their fifth day in the state, with anyone currently lining up for the test told they can leave. The announcement comes after mounting pressure from other states, with NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard earlier today imploring Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to remove the PCR test requirement for those wanting to enter Queensland. Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath made the announcement to remove the five-day testing requirement this morning, saying only 0.6 per cent of those tested on day five had returned positive results.  "That means that the Chief Health Officer advised us that we no longer need to continue these tests," she said. Queues of people 'sunburnt, dehydrated' as regional NSW towns struggle with COVID-19 PCR tests demand

 Sancia West and her seven-year-old twin daughters are bracing for a long wait for a COVID-19 test in regional NSW after they were deemed by health authorities as close contacts of a positive case.   As COVID-19 daily cases soar into their thousands, a six-hour wait at testing clinics has become the norm in recent days as the state's health system is inundated with close contacts, people with symptoms and those who need a test to travel interstate. Queuing outside at a testing clinic in Gosford, on the state's central coast, Dr West said she had has asked health workers to prioritise daughter Elizabeth, who has autism and intellectual disabilities.
